"A phantasmagorical world that is born of the earth and escapes to be reborn in ovulation, half-plant, half animal, half human. A world of baroque, beautiful and strange, a world of violence, compassion and tenderness. Unchanging themes of life, mixing styles like Baroque, Renaissance and also an immense complicity towards the "Flemish school of painting".
This is my elexir of life, my passion, depth of my soul, an oil painting done of transparency and glazes. Oil on paper drawings and mixed media also gives me a sense of freedom and thus complete my work."

Marc Davet was born in Fécamp, Normandy (France) in 1951 and spent his childhood in Lille. He gave up very early traditionals studies to devote himself to his passion, the painting. In 1965 he moved to Paris to follow the courses at the « Academie Charpentier » and the « Atelier du Mai » to prepare for the competitive exams of the main decorative arts school (ENSAD). In 1969, he attended the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs" in Paris.
During his career as a young artist, he worked as a textile designer of fashion accessories for the Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Porter, an universe of colours and precious materials which are still present in his paintings.
Marc Davet is painting with oil using the glazing techniques to create depth, richness and the special luminescence that was characteristic of many old master oil paintings. His work appears in many French and foreign collections.
